APPRENTICE BRICKLAYER COMPETITION

On Saturday June 16th, 13 Apprentices from La Crosse Local Union 1 as well as Unions throughout the state will be competing at our office in a bricklaying skills challenge. Contestants will be judged on a self constructed a 150 brick and 8 block mock up wall.

Evaluated Skills Include:
• Plumb
• Level
• Craftsmanship
• Accuracy
• Measurements
• Cleanliness

All apprentices are required to have 400 hours of classroom instruction and 4280 hours of on the job training. After they complete their apprenticeship and become a journeyman bricklayer they are required to complete two upgrade training classes per year. Stop by to these see craftsmen at work!

Awards were presented over dinner at Moxie’s at the Best Western Hotel.
